Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have recovered a locally fabricated double-barrel gun during an intelligence-led operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the weapon was recovered at about 3:15 p.m. on June 25 by troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion and Forward Operating Base (FOB) Magumeri following credible intelligence on the presence of illegal firearms in the area.

The operation was conducted at Lawanti Kareram community in Magumeri LGA.

According to the sources, the troops recovered one locally fabricated double-barrel gun abandoned at the location.

No suspect was arrested during the operation, as those linked to the weapon were believed to have fled before the arrival of the security team.

Military sources said the operation was carried out without incident and forms part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements access to illegal weapons and enhance security across the North-East theatre.

The sources added that troops have continued intelligence-driven operations across the theatre to recover illegal arms and disrupt the activities of terrorist and criminal networks.
