Troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have recovered three cattle and a Boxer motorcycle during a raid on a temporary settlement of suspected herders linked to an attack on farmers in Plateau State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was conducted at about 6:08 p.m. on October 24, 2026, at a temporary settlement located approximately one kilometre from Ashakon Village.
The raid followed an earlier attack on farmers harvesting their crops in the community, which reportedly resulted in the death of one farmer.
During the operation, the troops recovered three cattle and a Boxer motorcycle allegedly abandoned by the suspected herders, who reportedly fled with other cattle before the arrival of the security personnel.
The recovered livestock and motorcycle were subsequently moved to the troops’ location for further action.
Efforts are expected to continue to track down the fleeing suspects and establish their possible involvement in the earlier attack.
