Troops Rescue Kidnapped Victim in Edo, Recover Machete and Torchlight

Troops of 4 Brigade have rescued a kidnapped victim following a swift response to a distress call around Ekpoma in Edo State.
Security sources said that the incident occurred at about 2135 hours on May 9, 2026, near Esthacy Hotel in Emaudo community, Esan West Local Government Area of the state.
The sources said troops deployed at RA Ekpoma were immediately mobilised after receiving reports of kidnapping activity in the area.
According to the sources, on sighting advancing troops, the suspected kidnappers fled the scene, abandoning the victim.
The troops subsequently rescued the victim unharmed and recovered one machete, one flashlight and other sundry items believed to have been used by the suspects during the operation.
Security officials said the rescued victim and recovered items are currently in military custody for further profiling and handover to relevant authorities.
They added that follow-up operations have been intensified in the general area to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further criminal activity.
