Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have rescued three kidnapped victims following a swift response to a kidnapping incident along the Okene bypass in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 12:17 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when troops deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Adogo responded to a report of kidnapping along the route.

The troops arrived at the scene and found an abandoned vehicle whose occupants were suspected to have been kidnapped.

They subsequently trailed the route taken by the kidnappers. The criminals, upon sighting the advancing troops, reportedly abandoned three victims and fled into the surrounding area.

One of the rescued victims sustained a gunshot wound and was evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.

The other two victims were assisted by the troops to continue their journey after being rescued.

Security personnel are continuing efforts to track the fleeing kidnappers and prevent further criminal activities along the Okene bypass.
