Troops rescue three kidnapped victims, arrest two suspects in Nasarawa offensive operation

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have rescued three kidnapped victims and arrested two suspects during an offensive operation in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

 

Sources told Zagazola  that the operation was conducted at about 8:00 a.m. on March 31 at Turtwan Hills and Marhai Forest axis following sustained intelligence on criminal activities in the area.

 

The source said the troops made contact during the operation, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, while other members of the group fled into surrounding forested areas.

 

He added that three kidnapped victims were rescued unhurt during the operation.

 

According to him, the apprehended suspects and rescued victims are currently in military custody for further action and profiling.

 

The source said follow-up operations were ongoing to track fleeing elements and dismantle criminal hideouts within the forested area.

 

He reaffirmed the commitment of OPWS troops to sustain offensive operations aimed at restoring peace and security across affected communities in the North-Central region.
