Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims as Gunmen Kill Driver, Abduct Four Passengers in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace  have rescued two kidnap victims following an attack by suspected kidnappers along a highway in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

 

Security sources Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred in the early hours of June 6 along the Rafi Tagwai–Angwan Dariya road in the local government area.

 

The sources said the gunmen had barricaded the highway and attacked a commercial vehicle conveying passengers.

 

According to the sources, the assailants shot dead the driver of the vehicle, identified as Mr Ibrahim Musa, before abducting four passengers.

 

Troops deployed at Ungwan Gora quickly responded to reports of the incident and moved to the scene.

 

“On arrival, the troops discovered that the gunmen had killed the commercial vehicle driver and abducted four passengers.

 

“During a search-and-rescue operation conducted in the adjoining bushes, the troops successfully rescued two injured passengers,” the sources said.

 

The sources added that eight empty shells of 7.62mm special ammunition were recovered at the scene.

 

The rescued victims were evacuated to Confidence Hospital, Fadan Karshi, for medical treatment.

 

Security personnel have continued search-and-rescue operations to locate and rescue the remaining two abducted passengers, while efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators.

 

The military reassured residents of its commitment to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of commuters along major routes in the area.
