Two herders attacked during theft of rams, one killed, one injured in Yobe

One person has been killed and another injured following an attack by unknown assailants during a criminal conspiracy to steal domestic animals in Damagum Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Sources noted that on Feb. 8, at about 11:00 a.m., Adamu Joldi Dajjo, 25, and Yuse Buba, 20, both of Yola Hamlet via Shanga Village, allegedly conspired to steal two rams from the bush area of Abakire Village using a Kasea motorcycle.
While passing through Gununu Village at around 3:00 p.m., the duo were ambushed by three unknown men dressed in black, each armed with a dane gun.
During the attack, Yuse Buba sustained gunshot injuries to his right hand, while Adamu Joldi Dajjo was shot in the back and face. The attackers also made away with the Kasea motorcycle.
Joldi was rushed to General Hospital Damagum where he was pronounced dead by the medical doctor, while Yuse Buba was referred to Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu for further treatment. The corpse of Joldi has been released to his relatives for burial according to Islamic rites.
Police personnel who visited the scene recovered one live ram and one slaughtered ram, which were registered as exhibits.
Police say efforts to identify and apprehend the attackers are ongoing. The case is under preliminary investigation.
