Two locals killed at mining site by Fulani bandits in Plateau

Troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have discovered the corpses of two men at a mining site around Gana-Daji High Ground in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the corpses were discovered at about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 23, 2026, following a report received by the troops.
The source said that troops deployed to the area responded to the report and, upon arrival, confirmed the discovery of the two bodies.
The deceased were identified as Rabiu, from Maraban Kantoma in Mangu Local Government Area, and Hassan Issac, from Shendam Local Government Area.
The two men were suspected to have been killed by suspected Fulani bandits, although the circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation.
The relatives of the deceased subsequently evacuated the corpses for burial.
Following the discovery, the troops dominated the general area around Gana-Daji and commenced offensive operations and a manhunt for the suspected perpetrators.
Security forces are working to establish the motive for the killings and identify those responsible for the deaths.
