Two suspected cattle rustlers arrested with stolen cow in Plateau

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered a stolen cow at Saya Village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects, identified as 33-year-old Umar Abdullahi and 30-year-old Gambo Lamo, were arrested at about 4:00 p.m. on Sept. 22, 2026, following credible information received by the troops.
The suspects were reportedly found with a cow belonging to Mr Jafar Hassan, which had allegedly been stolen several days earlier while grazing around the Jengre area of the local government.
Preliminary investigation conducted by the troops established that the recovered animal was the stolen cow reported missing by its owner.
The suspects and the recovered cow were subsequently handed over to Keystone Outpost, Mista Ali, for further investigation and necessary legal action.
Security sources said investigations would continue to determine the suspects’ possible links to other cattle theft incidents in the area.
