A group of armed local hunters have reportedly stormed the Dansadau Police Station in Zamfara State in a violent confrontation that left a police officer injured.

Sources said the incident occurred on April 2 at about 6:55 p.m. when 14 hunters, led by one Yunusa Ali, invaded the station armed with AK-47 rifles.

It was gathered that the group allegedly went to the station in search of a policeman with whom they had an altercation a day earlier.

During the confrontation, one police officer sustained injuries, while the hunters were said to have attempted to take him away before being repelled by officers on duty.

The attackers reportedly retreated following resistance from the station personnel.

Authorities have commenced investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and prevent further escalation.
