The Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGPOLS), Zachariah Achinyan Fera (FDC) and Ibrahim Baba Zango (PSC), have called for improved professionalism, discipline and inter-agency collaboration in policing operations across the country.
The senior police officers made the call during an operational visit to Gombe State as part of a tour of duty, which included an interactive session with security stakeholders.
Police sources said the session, held at about 1030 hours, brought together civil society organisations, religious leaders, community representatives and members of the press, who all contributed to discussions on prevailing security challenges.
According to the sources, the DIGPOLS also delivered lectures to officers and men of the Gombe State Police Command, with emphasis on discipline, corruption control, responsible use of firearms, human rights, rule of law, community policing, training and retraining, and inter-agency collaboration.
The visit also included a courtesy call on Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON) at about 1700 hours, where key security issues affecting the state were discussed.
Governor Yahaya commended the efforts of the police in maintaining law and order and assured continued support for security agencies in the state.
The police leadership reiterated its commitment to strengthening operational efficiency and enhancing public trust through professional policing standards.
