Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged Defilement in Yobe State

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the alleged defilement of an eight-year-old girl in Potiskum Local Government Area of the state.

 

Police sources said the incident was reported at about 1530 hours on June 22 at the Potiskum Division by Musa Abdullahi of Sabon Layi area.

 

According to the report, the suspect, Abdullahi Musa, 26, of Dogo Nini area in Potiskum, allegedly lured his younger sister, Hajara Umar, 8, into his room where he was accused of committing the offence.

 

The suspect was also alleged to have issued threats to the victim in an attempt to prevent her from reporting the incident.

 

Following the complaint, police operatives visited and documented the scene of the crime, while the suspect was promptly arrested.

 

Police sources said both the victim and the suspect were taken to the Yobe State Specialist Hospital for medical examination.

 

The command stated that the case is under investigation pending the outcome of medical reports, after which it will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.

 

Authorities assured that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.
