Troops arrest suspected cultist in Ebonyi, recover locally made pistol

Troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA (OPUK), have arrested a suspected cultist linked to recent cult-related violence at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.
Security sources said the arrest was made at about 4:00 p.m. on April 3 at one of the suspect’s hideouts in Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
The sources disclosed that the suspect is the alleged owner of a recovered locally made revolver pistol earlier seized from other arrested cultists who were allegedly involved in acts of violence at the institution on March 26, 2026.
According to the sources, the weapon formed part of exhibits recovered during earlier operations targeting cult-related activities within the area.
The suspect is currently in military custody and is undergoing further investigation.
