Nigerian, Benin Troops Conduct Joint Night Patrol in Cotonou

Troops of Operation AWATSE II and personnel of the Benin National Guard have successfully conducted a joint night patrol within Cotonou as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cross-border security cooperation.
Military sources disclosed that the patrol was carried out between 2:18 a.m. and 5:18 a.m. on June 9 along designated routes within the Beninese commercial capital.
The operation formed part of existing collaborative security arrangements aimed at enhancing surveillance, deterring transnational criminal activities and promoting regional stability.
According to the sources, the joint patrol covered assigned areas without incident, and no security threats or unusual activities were observed during the exercise.
The patrol was described as hitch-free, with personnel from both countries maintaining effective coordination throughout the operation.
Security officials noted that such joint operations continue to play a vital role in fostering information sharing, strengthening interoperability and enhancing border security between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration in addressing emerging security challenges and safeguarding communities within the region.
