Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have disrupted criminal activities in Zamfara State, rescuing three wounded civilians, recovering 117 suspected rustled cattle and other livestock, and retrieving a stolen Toyota Camry.

The operations were conducted as part of ongoing clearance and security operations aimed at restoring peace and protecting communities and road users across the state.

Following a distress call on an attack by armed bandits on travellers along the Dampo–Rumba Road in Bakura Local Government Area, troops rapidly mobilised to the scene and engaged the attackers.

The troops’ firepower forced the assailants to retreat into the surrounding bush, leaving behind three civilians who had sustained injuries during the attack.

The troops immediately administered first aid to the victims and evacuated them to a medical facility for further treatment. The road was subsequently secured, while aggressive patrols continued along the route to safeguard commuters.

In a separate intelligence-led operation, troops deployed around the Magami axis intercepted five trucks suspected of transporting rustled livestock to Gusau.

A thorough search of the trucks led to the recovery of 117 cows, two donkeys, one goat and five cow skins.

The recovered livestock and other items were subsequently handed over to the Chairman of the Zamfara State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals in Gusau for appropriate action and efforts to reunite the animals with their rightful owners.

Similarly, troops operating in Tsafe Local Government Area recovered a stolen Toyota Camry with registration number RBC 804CL following intelligence shared among joint tracking teams.

The driver reportedly refused to stop when flagged down and fled towards a nearby community. Troops pursued the vehicle, forcing the occupants to abandon it and escape on foot.

The recovered vehicle has been secured for further administrative and legal proceedings.

The latest successes underscore the sustained efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops to disrupt bandit activities, protect vulnerable road users, recover stolen property and livestock, and deny criminal elements freedom of movement across Zamfara State.
