Police arrest suspect over attack on Fulani herder, cattle rustling attack in Benue

Police in Benue State have arrested one suspect in connection with an attack on fulani herders that left two persons with gunshot injuries and resulted in the rustling of an unspecified number of cattle in Otukpo Local Government Area.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 3:41 a.m. on July 24 at Ipugbogbo, Ugboju in Otukpo LGA.
According to the sources, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received a distress call reporting that armed men had attacked a group of herders, shot two of them and made away with their cattle.
The DPO of Ogoli Division immediately mobilised patrol teams to the scene, where the victims, identified as Egomo Pius Sunday, 36, and Oseni Sani, 70, were rescued with gunshot wounds.
The injured victims were evacuated to Methodist Hospital, Ogoli, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested one suspect, Ibrahim Bamanyi, in connection with the attack.
Police sources said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and recover the rustled cattle.
The case is under investigation.
