Policemen ambushed in Jigawa, ACP injured during raid on suspects’ hideout

The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed that   one of its senior officers, ACP Kundi Dauda Abubakar, has been injured after policemen were ambushed by suspected criminals during a raid on their hideout in Jahun Local Government Area of the state.

 

Sources from the command told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on Dec. 21 at Atuman Fulani settlement in Jahun LGA.

 

According to the source, the operation followed credible intelligence on the whereabouts of suspects who had earlier attacked policemen on duty at the Divisional Police Officer’s (DPO) quarters in Aujara, Jahun LGA, on Nov. 25, and made away with a riot gun.

 

“Based on the intelligence, a team of policemen led by ACP Kundi Dauda Abubakar stormed the suspected hideout of the criminals at Atuman Fulani settlement,” the source said.

 

He said that upon arrival, the suspects laid an ambush and began raining arrows on the policemen.

 

“In the process, ACP Kundi Dauda Abubakar was hit by an arrow. He was immediately evacuated to Jahun General Hospital, where he was treated and is currently in stable condition,” the source added.

 

The source disclosed that during the exchange, two of the suspects were shot by the police but managed to escape with bullet wounds.

 

The sources said efforts were ongoing to trace and arrest the fleeing suspects, as well as to recover the stolen riot gun.
