Security forces in Taraba, in collaboration with the state Hunters Association, have arrested two suspected kidnappers and recovered an AK-47 rifle from them.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday at Mahadi Forest, Gassol Local Government Area, following a tip-off.
The suspects were identified as Yahaya Umar, 20, from Gamu village, Ganye LGA, and Mohammed Umar, 37, from Belango village, Karim Lamido LGA.
“They confessed to being members of a kidnapping syndicate terrorising communities in Plateau and Taraba states via the Wase–Karim Lamido–Old Muri axis.
“Investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate,” the sources said.
