Suspected Fulani Bandits attack illegal miners, injure two in Barkin Ladi

Two illegal miners sustained machete injuries after suspected armed bandits attacked a mining site in Jong village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at about 12:25 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2026, when troops of Sector 4, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), responded to a distress report concerning the attack.

The swift intervention of the troops forced the attackers to flee the area before they could cause further harm.

A subsequent search of the scene showed that the assailants had allegedly made away with a pumping machine, two mobile phones and about 50 yards of electric wire.

Two victims, identified as Dung Gyang and Luka Pam, were found at the scene with machete injuries.

The injured victims were evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.

Security personnel have commenced efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, while investigation into the incident continues.
