Terrorist kingpin releases 18 rustled cattle following OPEP pressure in Plateau

JOS, Plateau State — A suspected terrorist kingpin operating along the Plateau-Bauchi border has voluntarily released 18 cattle reportedly rustled from residents of Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The development occurred at about 12:00 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2026, following sustained pressure from troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP) against terrorist activities in the area.
According to security sources, the cattle were released through the Fulani leader of Kukawa, Alhaji Nahi, by a suspected terrorist kingpin identified as Dogo, who operates around the border between Plateau and Bauchi states.
The livestock were reportedly among cattle rustled by the terrorists around Kukawa.
The release is being viewed by security sources as an indication of the impact of ongoing military operations aimed at disrupting criminal and terrorist activities across the OPEP area of responsibility.
The troops have continued offensive operations in line with the operational directives of Operation ENDURING PEACE, with efforts focused on degrading criminal networks and recovering property taken from communities.
Further security operations are ongoing across the affected areas.
