Troops Arrest Suspected Ammunition Courier, Recover 29 Rounds of Live Ammunition in Taraba

Troops of Operation MESA have arrested a suspected criminal and recovered 29 rounds of live ammunition during an operation in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 3:40 p.m. on July 20 by troops of the 6 Brigade deployed in Donga along Dema Road.
Items recovered from the suspect include 29 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, three mobile phones, a power bank, and ₦160,000 in cash.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly purchased the ammunition from an individual identified as Mr. Maga in Utile Community, also in Donga Local Government Area.
Military sources said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the alleged supplier and dismantle the network involved in the illegal arms and ammunition trade in the area.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, while the recovered ammunition and other exhibits have been secured.
Security authorities said the operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation MESA and 6 Brigade to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and ammunition and strengthen security across Taraba State.
