Troops Recover Rustled Cattle After Gun Battle with Suspected Terrorists in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have recovered rustled cattle after engaging suspected terrorists during a rescue operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the troops of Sector 2 responded at about 4:35 a.m. on July 19 to a distress call reporting the rustling of cattle at Garga Village.
On arrival at the scene, the troops made contact with the fleeing suspects and engaged them in a firefight.
The superior firepower of the troops forced the suspected terrorists to abandon the rustled cattle and flee into the surrounding bush.
The recovered livestock were secured, while troops launched a pursuit operation to track down the fleeing suspects.
Military sources said efforts are ongoing to identify the rightful owners of the recovered cattle and reunite them with their livestock after the necessary verification process.
The operation, according to the sources, is part of sustained efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to combat cattle rustling, banditry and other forms of criminality across Plateau State and its adjoining areas.
