Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected kidnapper and collaborator while attempting to collect a ₦7 million ransom for a kidnapped victim in Borno State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 around Azir village in Damboa Local Government Area of the state.

The sources said the suspect was arrested while allegedly attempting to collect the ransom demanded for the release of a kidnapped victim.

During the operation, the troops rescued the victim and evacuated the person to Damboa General Hospital for medical attention.

The suspect remains in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.

The arrest highlights ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle kidnapping networks and prevent criminals from exploiting vulnerable residents for financial gain.

The collaboration between troops and the CJTF continues to play a role in intelligence gathering and operations targeting suspected criminal elements in communities across Borno State.
