Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) collaborator at Geidam Market in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was apprehended at about 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 while in possession of a mini truck.

The sources said preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect allegedly confessed to actively receiving and delivering proceeds from forced levies imposed on local residents by terrorists.

Items recovered from the suspect included one mobile phone, a lighter and the sum of ₦18,450 in cash.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the troops for further investigation and necessary action.

The arrest is significant amid ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt the financial and logistical networks sustaining terrorist activities in the North-East.

The collection of forced levies from residents and the subsequent movement of the proceeds are among the methods used by terrorist groups to generate funds and sustain their operations.

Security forces continue to intensify intelligence-led operations to identify individuals suspected of facilitating terrorist financing, logistics and other support activities across the region.
