Troops arrest three suspected illegal miners in Abuja

Troops of 7 Guards Battalion have arrested three suspected illegal miners operating at a newly established gold mining site in Shere, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended at about 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2026, by troops of the battalion’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bwari under Operation MESA.
The suspects were reportedly engaged in gold mining activities at the site when troops moved in and arrested them.
The three suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation and appropriate action.
