Troops recover locally fabricated AK-47 rifle abandoned by terrorists in Sokoto

Troops of 8 Task Force Group Administration Battalion, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have recovered a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle and six rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the recovery was made at about 2:52 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2026, by troops of the battalion’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) Rabah.
The weapon and ammunition were recovered under shrubs between Ubuntu and Maikujera villages in the area.
According to the sources, the weapon was suspected to have been abandoned by terrorists at the location where they ambushed troops on Aug. 28, 2026.
The recovered weapon and ammunition are currently in military custody for further action, while troops continue operations to track down the fleeing terrorists.
