Troops of the Nigerian Army have safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists along the Damboa-Bulabulin-Maiduguri road in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Zagazola gathered that the IED was discovered at about 12:07 p.m. on Sept. 7, 2026, by troops of 19 Battalion, deployed under 25 Brigade, while conducting a road dominance patrol and escorting civilian vehicles along the route.
The explosive device was located around Asorok, shortly before Bulabulin, where it had been buried by suspected terrorists.
The troops secured the area and safely detonated the IED, preventing possible casualties and damage to civilian and military vehicles using the route.
Following the successful clearance of the threat, the troops continued their movement to the checkpoint at Kumala.
The incident highlights the persistent threat posed by terrorist-planted explosives along major routes in the North-East and the importance of sustained military patrols and escorts to protect road users.
