Troops foil suspected attack after Fulani bandits spotted near Vodni community in Plateau

Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have foiled a suspected attack after responding to reports of armed men moving with cattle around Vodni community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2026, when troops received information about the movement of armed men reportedly d accompanied by cattle in the Vodni area.
The troops immediately deployed to the location and established contact with the suspected criminals.
The armed men reportedly withdrew into the surrounding bush after encountering the troops’ superior firepower.
The troops subsequently dominated the general area with fighting patrols to prevent the suspected attackers from regrouping or returning to the community.
No casualty was reported in the available situation report.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of Mangu and other areas of Plateau State, where isolated attacks and movements of armed groups have continued to pose risks to rural communities.
Troops have continued to maintain patrols and surveillance around vulnerable communities to deny criminal elements freedom of action and respond promptly to emerging threats.
