Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have foiled an attempted abduction by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and rescued a farmer in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 10:45 a.m. on June 25 during a farm protection patrol at Alimiri farmlands.
The sources said the troops of 19 Battalion, under 25 Brigade, sighted suspected terrorists attempting to abduct a civilian identified as Mohammed Malan, 30.
On noticing the approaching security team, the terrorists abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes.
The troops immediately pursued the fleeing suspects but were unable to establish contact.
The rescued victim was evacuated to the Brigade Field Ambulance, where he received first aid before being transferred to the General Hospital for further medical attention.
Military sources said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to secure farming communities and protect civilians engaged in agricultural activities across the North-East.
The sources added that the general security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops continued offensive and protective operations against terrorist elements.
