Troops rescue 22 kidnapped victims in Niger State

Troops of 18 Brigade, Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, have rescued 22 kidnapped victims during an operation against terrorists in Muchiya Village, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The operation was conducted at about 1430 hours on Sept. 15, 2026, following reports of terrorist activities in the area.
According to security sources, the troops responded to the location and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon their victims.
A total of 22 kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation, while one victim sustained injuries and was evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.
The troops also recovered three motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists.
The rescued victims were subsequently handed over to the leadership of Muchiya community for further action and reunification with their families.
Security forces are expected to sustain operations in the area to track fleeing terrorists and prevent further attacks and abductions.
