Troops Arrest Suspected Criminal, Recover Rifles in Kaduna Operation

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have arrested a suspected criminal and recovered firearms following a pursuit operation in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 9:35 a.m. on April 23 after troops of Sector 7 responded to intelligence on the movement of a wanted suspect towards Jagindi Forest.
The sources said troops pursued the suspect towards Ungwan Maruwa, during which the suspect abandoned his motorcycle and fled on sighting the advancing troops.
A search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-49 rifle and a motorcycle.
In a follow-up operation in Gidan Waya, the troops arrested a suspect linked to an earlier attack on forest guards and hunters in the area on April 22, 2026.
The sources noted that the earlier incident involved an attack on forest guards and hunters operating in Gidan Waya axis of Jema’a LGA.
The arrested suspect and recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation, while operations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network.
