Troops Arrest Suspected Gunrunner in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have arrested a suspected gunrunner during an intelligence-led operation in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, identified as Moses Azin, 39, was arrested at about 8:10 p.m. on July 30 at Haske Quarters by troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12.
The sources said the operation followed actionable intelligence indicating the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal firearms trafficking within the area.
The suspect was apprehended without incident and taken into military custody for detailed investigation.
Security sources said investigators are working to determine the extent of the suspect’s alleged activities, including possible links to criminal or armed groups operating in Plateau State and neighbouring areas.
The arrest forms part of ongoing intelligence-driven operations by Operation Enduring Peace aimed at disrupting the supply of illegal weapons, dismantling criminal support networks and reducing armed violence across Plateau State.
The sources added that troops have continued to intensify surveillance and targeted operations against individuals suspected of facilitating the proliferation of illicit firearms in the state.
