Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, Cattle Rustler in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State.

A military source said the suspect, identified as Usman Muhammed, 37, from Dapchi Local Government Area of Yobe State, was apprehended at about 1:30 p.m. on June 10 at Buratai Market in Biu Local Government Area of Borno.

The source disclosed that troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion, working in collaboration with local hunters and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), tracked and arrested the suspect following credible intelligence on his alleged involvement in kidnapping and cattle rustling activities.

Items recovered from the suspect included two chickens, a Tecno mobile phone, a lighter, a knife, a national identity card, charms and the sum of N70,000.

According to the source, the suspect and the recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate military investigation unit for further investigation and necessary action.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation Hadin Kai to dismantle criminal networks and enhance security across the North-East region.

The source added that the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, while troops continue to maintain a high level of vigilance and operational readiness.
