Troops Arrest Two Suspected Terrorism Collaborators in Kwara

Troops of 22 Brigade have arrested two suspected terrorism collaborators during an intelligence-led operation in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

 

Security sources said the suspects were apprehended at about 11:00 a.m. on May 18 by troops deployed at Patrol Base Zambufu following credible information on alleged movement of weapons in the area.

 

The troops reportedly responded swiftly to the information and intercepted the suspects in connection with suspected terrorist-related activities.

 

During preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly claimed they were invited by police operatives to assist in locating a suspected terrorist hideout.

 

They further alleged that they observed individuals they believed to be police officers transporting weapons in a vehicle to an unknown destination.

 

Security sources said the claims were being investigated by relevant authorities to verify the circumstances surrounding the incident and establish the facts.

 

The suspects are currently in military custody undergoing further interrogation and profiling for appropriate action.

 

Authorities said investigations were ongoing to uncover possible arms movement networks and other individuals linked to criminal activities in the area.
