Troops neutralise 10 terrorists in Borno night operation

Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have neutralised 10 terrorists during a night offensive under Operation Desert Sanity V in Borno.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 31 in the Komala general area.
According to the source, the troops made contact with the terrorists during the night raid and engaged them in a fierce firefight.
“Ten terrorists were neutralised in the encounter, while five AK-47 rifles were recovered.
Several bicycles and other logistics items used by the terrorists were also captured,” the source said.
The sources added that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to deny insurgents freedom of movement and disrupt their logistics and operational networks.
The source said troops remained in the area to conduct exploitation and clearance operations to ensure that no remnant elements regrouped.
The Military high command commended the gallantry of the troops and the CJTF for their sustained commitment to restoring peace and security in the North-East.
